MESIL® ME-Si28, Tetraethylorthosilicate(TEOS) is a colorless liquid that is used as a starting material in the production of silica-based materials such as sol-gel materials, ceramics, and coatings. It is also used as a source of silicon in the semiconductor industry, and as an ingredient in some cosmetics and personal care products.

ME-Si28 is also the raw materials producing Silica Aerogel Powders. When ME-Si28(TEOS) is mixed with water and an alkoxide, it forms a gel-like substance that can be dried to form Silica Aerogel. The process of making silica aerogel from TEOS is called sol-gel processing.
