Reinforcement: Precipitated silica is widely used as a reinforcing filler in rubber composites, especially in the manufacture of tires. It helps improve tensile strength, tear resistance, and abrasion resistance.
Heat Resistance: It enhances the heat resistance of tire compounds, improving performance and longevity.
2. Plastics
Filler: Precipitated silica serves as a lightweight filler in plastics, improving mechanical properties, increasing impact resistance, and reducing production costs.
Thickening Agent: It can also modify the flow and viscosity characteristics of various plastic formulations.
3. Personal Care Products
Cosmetics: In cosmetics, precipitated silica is used in powder formulations, face powders, and deodorants for its absorbent and skin-smoothing properties.
Toothpaste: It acts as an abrasive agent and thickening agent in toothpaste formulations, providing cleaning and polishing effects.
4. Speciality Silica for Food Industry
Anti-Caking Agent: Precipitated silica is utilized as an anti-caking agent in powdered foods (like spices and powdered milk) to prevent clumping and ensure free flow.
Clarifying Agent: It can also be used in beverages for clarification.
Thickening and Anti-Sagging: In paints and coatings, precipitated silica enhances viscosity, improving application properties and preventing sagging.
Matting Agent: It provides a matte finish to paints and coatings, improving aesthetic qualities.
